Hello Gents,
I`ve been away for past few days, but hopefully we can now continue to discuss the 21.
Firstly, let me please go back when we discussed the radio R-832 blade antenna on the Mig-21UM. A week ago I realized after looking some Mig-21US/UM "Radioelectronic equipment" manuals that we have been fooled by Mr. Gordon once again. He is stating in his book Mikoyan Mig-21 "Famous Russian Aircraft serie" that the R-832 antenna is mounted on the fuselage spine a short way ahead of the fin. Well, he is wrong and I believed him as well without checking it for my self. The blade antenna which appeared on the Mig-21UM only is the omnidirectional antenna of the ARK-10 radiocompass system. Both the R-802 and the R-832 VHF radios used the same antenna in the tail fin and you could distinguish between them only by looking into the cockpit. The Mig-21US has the ARK-10 omni-directional antenna attached to the front canopy opening sideways. For some reasons we can clearly assume they removed it from the glass canopy and reinstalled on the fuselage spine. To make it more comprehensible, look at the simple collage below including photos from US/UM manuals and other aircraft details. One last thing to mention, the single seat Mig-21 versions had the omni-directional ARK-10 (sharing it with the LAZUR) antenna installed in the fuselage tail ventral fin part made from the fiber glass.
Czy ktoś z kolegów posiada jakieś szczegółowe dane na temat sposobu mocowania silników w 21-szych ?.
I checked that with the Mig-21PFM, MF and US manuals describing both the R-11 and the R-13 engine installations and all are mentioning the same values you`ve written before. The engine to aircraft longitudinal axis offset distance is 90mm at the fuselage frame 28 and 65mm at the fuselage frame 32A. I didnt find better information in dedicated R-11, R-13 manuals.
I modified the table showing Mig-21delivery to Poland where you can see that since1972 all "Izd.96A" delivered to Czechoslovakia were equipped with the "izd.95" engine. I suppose aircrafts delivered in 1975 from Gorkyi plant were the first Migs-21MF in Poland equipped with the R13-300, am I right? Would be really interesting to find more differences in the equipment of both Czechoslovak and Polish Mig-21MF in general.
